The training
courses listed below provide an ideal
foundation for developing your skills and knowledge
in the production of wood fuel and the practice of responsible woodland management.
There are also opportunities to gain grant
funding for developing your woodland
resource.
Training courses:
Ignite woodfuel training course
A three-day course produced by Rural Development Initiatives focusing upon the fundamentals of wood fuel production and supply.
It is accredited through the Lantra Awards body and won a National Training Award in 2006. It is suitable for anyone interested in becoming
a woodfuel supplier or gaining better knowledge of biomass energy.

Woodfuel Quality Standards Training course
This one-day course produced by Rural Development Initiatives concentrates on wood fuel, from forest or primary wood processing sources.
The course includes information on:
- The draft CEN standards for wood fuels
- Wood chip fuel specifications
- Quality assurance and labelling

Energy crops course
This two-day course is highly interactive and covers all aspects of energy crop growing, processing, supply and end-use. Energy crops covered include short rotation coppice (SRC) willow, miscanthus and other energy grasses, broadleaved
coppice and short rotation forestry (SRF). It is of particular interest to farmers, estate owners and organisations with farm holdings.
