Westwoods Director - Andrew Harvey
Andrew, director of Harvey
Shopfitters in Hanham, came up with
the idea for Westwoods when he was
trying to find a way to recycle
waste wood from his shop-fitting
business. He realised the problem
faced by local users of biomass when
he started converting the waste from
his own firm into wood chip pellets
and donating them to Kings Forest
School in Kingswood. “Guaranteeing
supply and quality of fuel was a
real headache for the school and I
soon discovered that this is a
widespread problem. It’s no good
burning poor quality fuel as it
harms the boiler and can cause it to
break down". |

Westwoods Director - Mark Letcher
Mark Letcher is the founder and
Director of Climate Works Ltd (CWL)
a sustainable energy and climate
change consultancy based in Bristol.
CWL works with businesses, local and
national government and community
organizations to develop responses
and solutions to climate change,
energy security and fuel poverty.
Increasingly these include the use
of biomass as a source of low carbon
heat and electricity. Mark's
interest in Westwoods comes from a
recognition of the need to step-up
production now to meet an increasing
demand for high quality wood fuels
from local, and sustainable
woodlands as part of the shift to
low carbon ways of living and
working. |
