Connecting wood fuel suppliers with biomass energy users
|
 |
|
Wood fuel is an excellent renewable energy source, but it is currently under-utilised.
Westwoods is a not-for-profit organisation working to coordinate and develop a responsible and
sustainable wood fuel supply infrastructure in south-west England.
|
Independent broker We provide resources, training and support to
member wood fuel
suppliers, whilst also acting as an independent broker
to facilitate contracts-for-supply
between wood fuel producers and biomass energy end-users in both
the public and private sectors.
We operate in the
best interests of all our members -
comprising both
woodland managers and wood chip energy
consumers - actively assuring
standards of quality and consistency in the
wood fuel supplies we coordinate.
Sustainable biodiversity, not monoculture
We are
committed to promoting best practice in
sustainable woodland management, with the
emphasis upon bringing existing woodland
back under responsible, diversified management rather
than encouraging single-species plantations.
Biomass energy expertise
We also offer information, guidance and independent expertise in the use
of biomass energy, promoting its environmental and economic benefits as a practical alternative to continuing
dependence upon gas, oil or coal.
