Our role is to represent the best interests of all our members - both wood fuel producers and biomass energy consumers - ensuring that contracts-for-supply achieve a fair and equitable deal for all parties.

Tendering for supply
The process is managed by means of a tendering system. All members with the capacity to supply wood chip fuel are invited to submit tenders that meet the requirements of the consumer.

All of the submitted tenders are passed directly to the consumer to evaluate, whereupon they will make their decision based on the information presented.

When the consumer has made their decision a contract is drawn up between the woodfuel consumer and the successful wood chip producer.

Independent advice & support
Westwoods assists throughout the contract process with any issues that arise between the customer and the supplier. As a
not-for-profit organisation Westwoods has no vested interest in the negotiation - an 'honest broker' - enabling us to provide entirely independent, authoritative advice to all parties involved.

In the best interests of all parties
For the wood fuel supplier we are able to advise upon the best-practice methods to achieve the highest quality wood fuels, as well as providing resources and support in both production and sustainable woodland management techniques.

Westwoods also provide support to the wood fuel consumer throughout the process, commencing with a site visit to fully understand their requirements, together with technical assistance in interpreting the tender responses, although without seeking to influence the consumer's final choice of supplier.
